Camping outdoors in the summertime can be bliss, but even the most hardened campers will admit to feeling the chill of the morning air at times.

To solve this problem, a US firm has designed a heated sleeping bag that promises to keep you toasty when the last embers of campfire have died down.

The firm is so confident in its design, it even claims people can sleep naked in the great outdoors.

Utah-based clothing and accessories Ravean has developed two heated sleeping bag designs - a wearable sleeping bag and a sleeping back liner (pictured) - which run on specially designed 12 volt battery packs. The firm states that its heated kit will finally solve the problem of feeling cold in the great outdoors

The sleeping bags have been developed by Utah-based clothing and accessories Ravean.

The first of the two designs is the ‘Simple Heated’, which is the shape of a standard mummy bag with two heated bands that wrap around the user’s core and feet.

It slips inside the user’s sleeping bag and can be adjusted to where the heat is needed and the heat settings can also be adjusted.

According to the firm, the idea is to provide a boost for campers’ current sleeping bag for when it’s not quite warm enough outside.

By using the heated liner, users can bump their sleeping bag’s rating by as much as 20 degrees and the battery packs will last up to 12 hours on a full charge.

HEATED SLEEPING BAG DESIGNS

Designed by Utah-based clothing and accessories Ravean, the two heated sleeping bags promise to spell the end for the chill of the outdoors.

Using specially designed 12-volt battery packs the bags have heated pads incorporated into the material.

The first of the two designs is the ‘Simple Heated’, which is the shape of a standard mummy bag with two heated bands which wrap around the user’s core and feet.

It slips inside the user’s sleeping bag and can be adjusted to where the heat is needed and the heat settings can also be adjusted.

While the second design is a fully wearable bag liner which can be worn outside as well – perfect for chilly mornings around the camp fire.

The second bag liner design is a heated sleeping bag users can wear outside, keeping them warm in the chilly morning air.

This design has a hood and three heating settings for each ‘zone’ – high, medium and low – for feet and body.

And because both are fully adjustable, the heated liners are one-size-fits-all.

Both of the designs run on specially designed 12V battery packs, as does Ravean’s existing heated jacket design.

The firm reportedly came up with the idea while one of the co-founders was on a camping trip with one of Ravean’s heated puffer jackets.

It has now launched a crowdfunding page to develop the products, as well as manufacture the battery packs.

The firm has already smashed its $20,000 (£13,840) target and, at the time of writing, had racked up close to $140,000 (£96,900).

Co-founders Bryce Fisher, Jon Bybee and Henry Deutsch claim the products are water resistant and machine-washable.

But most importantly for campers and hikers, they squash down into small packs which can be crammed inside a pack.

According to the firm’s Kickstarter page, the current timeline will ship orders in October, and backers can get one of the battery packs for $79 (£55), while the price for the sleeping bag liner starts at $179 (£124) with battery.

Writing on the campaign, Ravean said: ‘Sleep on the ground, go days without a shower, whatever floats your inflatable boat, but never, ever give up being warm.

‘The heated core and feet elements in Ravean’s new electrically heated sleeping bag liners deliver warmth where it’s needed, eliminating uncomfortable feet and bodies in any camping condition.’
